We are beginning to build our playgrounds for our Math Unit.  I will supply poster board for a base and building and construction paper.  Any other items your child and partner would like to use for their playground they need to bring from home.

We will be having our Annual 4th Grade Spelling Bee.  Friday morning my class will compete against each other.  The 2 finalist will compete against finalist in the other 4th grade classes next week to determine the Spelling Champ for 4th grade.  Every student was given a pack of spelling words today.  They may practice these at home.  They were also given time during Reading today to practice with each other, if they chose.

Speeches are continuing to go well.  Please make sure that your child has all their materials on their speech day.


We are beginning our "Building a Playground " unit for Math.  Student pairs should be ready to design their own playground and begin building them later next week.  I will supply construction paper.  Anything else they would like to use as part of their design they will need to bring themselves.

Tomorrow is our Heritage Hill field trip.  I reminded students who have turned in their slips and lunch forms, so far.  We will be outside, so please have your child dress for the weather.  They will be wearing a Clovis shirt over their existing shirt, unless they wear a Clovis shirt from home.

Less than half the class has turned in permission slips/lunch forms for the Track and Field Meet and permission slips/money/lunch forms for Heritage Hill.  If your child has not turned these in, please have them do so ASAP.   The lunch department needs an accurate number of "Lunch to Go" orders for purchasing purposes.


We begin demonstration speeches tomorrow.  Please make sure that you have checked the schedule sent home so that your child is prepared, with all necessary materials, on the day of their speech.  Please join us, if possible.


We have finished MAP testing today.

Students are making progress on their Demonstration Speeches.  Please make sure that you check the schedule from last week and talk to your child about their speech so that they have everything they need on the day they are presenting.


Tomorrow we will be taking the Reading portion of the MAP test.  Please make sure that your child is well rested so that they can do their best.

We watched videos of demonstration speeches today so your child has an idea of what they are expected to do.  They were told that they need to practice, practice, practice.  Practice in front of parents, siblings, pets, stuffed animals or even in front of a mirror.  They all will be nervous but those who practice have the easiest time in front of the class.


For the City Wide Track Meet they are trying something different this year.  We will be eating lunch at Calder Stadium.  If you would like your child to have the school make them a Lunch to Go, please fill out the form that was sent home today and return it by Thursday, March 17.  These lunches will be delivered to Calder. Otherwise, your child can bring their own lunch that day.

Information went home today regarding the End of the Year Tom's Acknowledgement/Kickball Game. Since this is an acknowledgement certain criteria must be met to participate.  Your child has been made aware of the information also and realize that strikes began today at 11:05. Please read the information carefully. Every year there are unfortunately students who can't go.  If you have any questions, please let me know.
