September Reading Minutes are due on Monday.  Please add the minutes read for September and then sign the calendar.  If you misplaced the calendar you can find one on my web page or write a note in your child's agenda that they read at least 400 minutes at home for the month of September.

We are starting the multiplication unit on Monday.  The more fluent and accurate your child is with their multiplication facts the easier this unit will be for them.

It sure is nice to be back in the classroom.  Now I can use what I learned in training to help my students become even more successful.  I will have follow-up training two days in October.

GO PACK GO!!

A blue note went home with evening regarding parent/teacher conferences.  Please look over the note, decide on a time and return it to school by Wednesday, so that a conference schedule can be made.

Tomorrow is library day.  Your child will be allowed to check out two books if they return both books they checked out last week.  They can also renew books, if thye would like.

Book Orders went home today.  If you are interested in purchasing any books, please have the orders turned in my Friday, September 28.  There are also instructions for ordering on-line.  Parents who used this option in the past found it to be very convenient.

Tomorrow is Art.  If your child does not have a smock, they may bring one and keep it by their coat hook.

We went to the Clovis Library today.  The policy has changed and each child that has all their books returned will be allowed to check out two books.  This is a change from three books last year.

All students are able to log into the computer on their own accounts.  To log in they need to type in their last name,first initial and the last two digits of their graduation year (NO SPACES).  Their student id number is their password.  By having their own account they will be able to log into the MJSD computers at the Menasha Public Library and pull up any computer work they saved at school.

We began Spelling today.  Your child is in one group for word sorting and another group for Spelling words and packets.  The word sorts help your child recognize the similarities between different word families.  The Spelling packets help with other aspects of Language and Grammar.  Since we are working on different skills, the words will not be the same the majority of the time.  Your child will be given a spelling test on Friday for their spelling words only.  Spelling packets and spelling sorts are due when they walk into the room on Friday morning to be considered on time.  They will be given some time in class to work on them Monday - Thursday, but may need to bring the packs/sorts home to complete, especially in the first few weeks.  Groups were picked based on the colors in the Olympic Rings.  Spelling words and packets for the Yellow group and Green group are posted on my web page for you to run-off if needed.  Blue groups members are expected to keep track of their packets and only list words and the glossary are posted on-line.  There is also a spot on the Agenda where students are asked to write in their weekly spelling words to practice at home.  Students have been reminded to check the spelling carefully when writing the words, as I won't be checking for accuracy.

Tomorrow is picture day.  Please note the pictures are usually taken in grade order, starting with the youngest children first.  We may have Phy Ed and lunch recess before your child's picture is taken.  All children will have their pictures taken for the yearbook, even if you choose to not order a package.

We had a great day.  We earned our five Olympic rings reviewing the Cougar Code and have received a golden recess pass.

Please turn in your beginning of the year paperwork, if you have not already done so.  I know that only one criminal background check went home for each family.  If each parent would like to fill one out, let me know and I will send home an additional form.

Today was a great start to the new school year.  We had S'More funthis afternoon - we made s'mores by letting the sun melt the chocolate for us. 

There was a lot of information sent home at Open House and today, so please feel free to contact me if you ever have any questions or concerns.

A letter went home today explaining the procedures of my classroom and the days of specials.

Agendas are set up a little differently this year.  We will continue to work on getting the correct homework aligned with the correct subject area.  Please feel free to sign at the bottom of the date in the parent/teacher comments space or place your initials on the appropriate line.
