Tomorrow is the Halloween Party.  Students may bring treats to share, if they would like.  It is also our Electronics Party.  If students do not have an electronic device to bring to school or forget theirs, they may use a school Chrome Book.


If there are any questions regarding costumes for tomorrow, please refer to the note that was sent home Monday.


October Reading Minutes are due on Thursday.  If your child has misplaced their copy, there is one on my webpage to print off.  You can also write a note in their agenda or send me an email that they read their 400 minutes for the month.

Information came home today regarding the Clovis Grove Halloween Parade.  Please read it over carefully.


We have also earned Electronics Day for the Halloween Party, following the Parade.  If your child does not have an Electronics to bring, they may use a school Chrome Book.


Book Orders went home today.  Please read the information carefully.  There is the opportunity to receive free books with your order, if you would like to purchase anything.

Congratulations to the class for getting 2nd place in the box top competition.  Each students received a coupon for a free scoop of ice cream at Culvers.  Students were reminded to be careful when emptying out their mailboxes because there was only enough for one coupon per person.  The coupons are stapled to a congratulations letter so that makes it more difficult to lose.

The Annual School Fundraiser information was sent home today.  Please read the information carefully for deadlines, if you are planning on participating.

I am switching my Word Work groups to a 6-day rotation.  This will allow an extra day to focus on vocabulary with teacher support.  Ms. Scott's groups will still remain on a 5-day rotation.

Thank you to the parents who volunteered their time to chaperone the field trip yesterday.  This was one of the best groups of students that we have taken to Madison. They made Clovis Grove proud.

Reminder notes went home today for the Madison Field Trip.  Please make sure that your child has a lunch, if they did not order one from the school.  Weather is predicted to be 79 degrees with a slight chance of rain.  If your child has a Clovis Cougar Shirt, please have them wear it.  If they don't have a shirt I will provide them with one that they will wear over their shirt.  All students need to wear a Clovis Shirt on the field trip.  Again, they must arrive on time - we will not wait for anyone.

practice for Unit Test on Thursday - we worked on a pre-test today and students were asked to bring that home.  The post-test will have very similar skills on it.

September Reading Calendars are due.  Please make sure that you sign the calendar before your child brings it to school.  If you have misplaced your calendar they are available on my webpage or you can write me a note in your child's agenda or email me indicating that they read 400 minutes for September.


An October Reading calendar was sent home today.


Breakfast will be available Wednesday morning before we board the bus to Madison.  Breakfast will not be allowed to be taken on the bus.


Please make sure that your child is at school by 6:15 on Wednesday.  We can not wait for any who is running late.

Social Studies - Artifact Bag due October 2.


Spelling - We have begun our Spelling Groups today.  Please make sure that you know the name of your child's group - they picked their own names.  I will let you know when they receive their words and when the test will be.  Your child will be given words to keep at school and a list to keep at home to practice.  On the spelling test they will receive one point for spelling the word correctly and an additional point for putting the word in the correct sort.  They will not receive any points if the word is spelled incorrectly. We are working on a 5 day rotation but please remember things such as field trip will not count as a day which will push back the day of the test.
