Please remember to have your child to Clovis by 6:15 on Wednesday.  The bus leaves promptly at 6:30 and will NOT wait for anyone.  If we do not leave by 6:30 we will be late and miss portions of the Capitol tour.

Make sure that your child has a lunch with them.  Some students have ordered lunch from school.  There will NOT be anywhere for students to purchase food.  We are not shopping for souvenirs so your child will not need to bring any money.  Also electronics will have to stay on the bus.  They are not allowed in the capitol building.

Chaperone names for the Madison Trip are due Friday morning.  Friday I will confirm the list of chaperones.  Remember you must have had a completed Criminal Background Check done this year and bring the card they mail you the morning of the Madison trip or you not allow to be a chaperone.  This is District Policy and information on how to complete a background check has been sent home at least two times this year.  If you misplaced the information, the school secretaries can help you with the website you need to go to.  It does take 2 or 3 weeks for the entire process to be complete.

Tomorrow is Packers Day.

On Monday the first Math quiz of the year was sent home.  Once or twice a week I will be giving short quizzes based on these same benchmark standards.  I do not feel that one piece of evidence, one quiz, gives me a true look at your child's abilities.

At today's Kickoff Assembly students were told about a new program that Clovis is starting called Buddy Patrol.  There will be four students from each grade level selected to be part of the Buddy Patrol.  Please talk with your child to see if they are interested.  Tomorrow interested students will be given an application to fill out at home.

I know that the challenge problems can be difficult but it is important that your child at least try the problem and not skip it or put down "I don't know."  The trying will help with their math independence and build confidence when they see similar problems on a math test.

We had the opportunity to meet the author and illustrator of The Adventures of Joe the Crow.  They are both local residences of the Fox Valley and the illustrator is the sister-in-law of Mrs. Vaubel, a second grade teacher at Clovis.

We began using another digital resource for reading.  It is called Digital ReadWorks.  Students are assigned an article and then given multiple choice and short answer questions.  After submitting their work they can see the results of their multiple choice answers.  We are using it to help with the text structure of cause and effect and will continue to use it throughout the remainder of this year.  Your child should be able to pull up their account from home.  I have a link and the necessary codes in an email to them.

We are going to have 3 days of back-to-back-to-back math homework.  I was sick of Friday and the substitute did not give out homework so we are playing catch up.  After Thursday we should be returning to our every other day homework assignments.
