If your child is wearing a costume for the parade tomorrow they must BRING the costume to school.  We will be putting on costumes after lunch recess.

We have finished WKCE testing for this week.  We will have 7 more tests next week, starting on Tuesday and continuing through Friday.

We will have a Fall Party on Thursday, after the costume parade.  Your child may bring a treat, if they wish.  Due to allergies, please do not send anything with blueberries or beans.  Healthy snacks are encouraged.

We will be having 2 WKCE tests tomorrow and 1 on Wednesday.  Please make sure that your child gets enough sleep to ensure they do their best on the test.

Due to WKCE testing there will not be spelling this week.

We will be having a Fall Party on Thursday afternoon after the Halloween Parade.  Your child may bring a treat, if they wish.  Due to allergies, please do not send anything with blueberries or beans.

In addition to the Halloween Parade we will be having a Fall Party on October 31.  The party will be after the parade.  Your child may bring a treat, if they would like to.

We will have WKCE testing on Tuesday morning and afternoon, and on Wednesday morning next week.  Please make that your child is well rested so that they can do their best.

Math - There are many students who have been missing recess because they do not read and complete all the directions.  This especially happens when the directions are asking for not only the exact answer but also estimating/rounding.  If you are checking your child homework, please make sure the directions are read and completed fully.

Just a few reminders for the week:

• Tomorrow is the second day for Parent/Teacher Conferences.  If I have not already met with you, please check your child's agenda for your time.  I look forward to seeing everyone.
• Wednesday is "Hats On For Veterans."  For a $1 donation to the Old Glory Honor Flight, your child may wear a hat in school for the day.
• Wednesday is a late start
• Wednesday is the last day for book orders, if you wish to purchase anything
• There is no school for students on Thursday and Friday

Please make sure that your child is properly dressed for the weather.  We will be having recesses outside, unless it is raining, and many students mentioned how cold they were today.

Due to the shortened week, there will not be spelling

We received a donation of Rick Riordan books from Mrs. Wayland, the wife of our guidance counselor Mr. Wayland.  Each student got to pick out a book today that is theirs to keep.

We had dry weather for the field trip and everyone had a good time.

Today we learned how to use the Typing Club Program.  Your child should have an email link to it or you can Google:  Menasha Joint School District Typing Club to find the log-in page.  Students know their log-in and password - I set it up the same as their district information.

Our field trip to Heckrodt Nature Center is on Wednesday. We will be walking there and going rain or shine.  Please have your child dress for the weather.  Half of the class will be going in the morning and half will be going in the afternoon.

Reminders for the Madison Field Trip tomorrow:

• Please have your child at school by 6:15 - 6:20 at the latest.  The bus will not wait for anyone or we will not make our tour time at the capitol.
• Pack your child a lunch, if you did not order one from the school.  There will not be lunch items to buy on the trip.
• If your child has a blue Clovis shirt or a Cantering Cougars shirt, please have them wear it.  If not, a shirt will be provided for them to borrow.
• Electronic items may be brought as long as they have headphones or the volume can be turned off.  However, items will not be replaced if they are lost or broken.
• Your child may bring a camera for picture taking.
• Your child may bring money for souvenirs. There is a gift shop at the capitol and zoo.  Your child will be responsible for their own money and souvenirs.  If anything is lost or broken it will not be replaced.

If your child has a blue Clovis shirt or a Cantering Cougars shirt, please have them wear it Friday for our field trip to Madison.  If they do not have one, a shirt will be provided for them to borrow.

We began our multiplication unit today.  A parent letter from the math book should have come home.  Please review this letter, as it explains some of the methods we will be using to teach multiplication.

Please remember that permission slips, money and lunch forms are due on Monday for the Madison field trip.

Notes regarding Parent/Teacher Conferences went home today.  Please check the date/time and return.

Unit 1 Math Test went home today.  You will see a pretest and Unit test score.  Before each unit your child is given a pretest to help determine differentiation.  Unit 1 pretest was given the second day of school.   By seeing both scores, you will be able to notice how much your child has learned throughout the unit.
