The school district will be doing a deep clean of each building.  Students brought home all their boots, art shirts, gym shoes, etc.


Students brought home an envelope of materials that they can work on over the school closure.  Please make sure that you read the parent letter carefully.  Many of the packets are optional, just some extra work in case your child wants to do it.


I will be emailing students to let them know of updates.  I will also be monitoring their I-Ready minutes to make sure each child is working on Math and Reading.

Fourth Grade is beginning a new grade wide acknowledgement.  The criteria is the same as the other acknowledgements - to be eligible each student must have 2 or less late/missing assignments and no behavior write-ups.  We will have an Electronics Day on Friday. April 3 in the afternoon for all students who earn the acknowledgement.  Students who do not have electronics to bring may use their school Chromebook.


We have begun preparing the students for the Forward Exam.  If you would like to see sample questions for this test, please follow this link

Please make sure that your child has working headphones/earbuds for the Forward Test.  There is a Listening Session and students must have earbuds/headphones to take this portion.

The results of the Beanstack Book Contest were announced.  My class came in third for the district and first for Clovis Grove.  Mrs. Richter surprised them with a certificate for a free pizza or salad at Kwik Trip and a free kids meal at Texas Road Star.  There are also mini cupcakes waiting for them on Monday.  Congrats to my class.


February Reading Minutes are due next week.  I will accept them until Friday, March 6.  Students who turn in their calendars will receive the usual $500 Cougar Cash for the end of the year auction and a certificate for a personal pizza at Pizza Hut.  In addition, this month they will receive the Timber Rattlers Gift Package and a digging card for our Treasure Hunt on Wolverine Island class game.  If you misplaced your calendar you will find one on my web page.  You can also send me an email or write a note in your child's agenda that they read their 400 minutes for February.

Tomorrow is the 4th Grade Acknowledgement Day for those students who have had two or less missing/late assignments and no behavior referrals for the month of February.  There will be a choice of two movie rooms and one game room.  There will also be a work room for those who did not earn the acknowledgement.


Tomorrow is group picture day for the yearbook.  If your child is part of a school team or group and has a uniform, please have them bring it to school tomorrow for pictures.

Tomorrow is Blue and Gold Day - although I have heard rumors that some students will be wearing Red and White.


Most students have been doing an excellent job of filling out their Agendas each afternoon.  For those who do not, it will be treated the same as a missing assignment - loss of ticket, working lunch and strike towards any grade level acknowledgements. This truly only pertains to a few students, but I wanted to let everyone know this information.

 Screen Free Week started yesterday.  Please check the schedule that was sent home for a list of activities to do today and tomorrow.  Thursday is Funset Boulevard night.  $5 Bands can be purchased up to tomorrow.  Friday is the School Dance.

Fourth Grade is starting a new acknowledgement.  Students who have 2 or fewer missing/late assignments and no office write-ups will be invited to enjoy a movie afternoon on February 28.  Two of the fourth grade classrooms will show a movie so there will be a choice.

Students have until Friday to enter books they have read into Beanstack.  They have a QR code at school might be easier to use, so perhaps they can write the title of the book and author in their agenda to enter at school.


The Sledding Acknowledgement is on Friday for all fourth grade students who have no more than 2 missing/late assignments and no behavior write-ups.  If students aren't able to bring a sled, there will be sleds at school for them to use.  They MUST have boots and snow pants to participate.

We would like to Welcome Mr. Parker to our class.  Mr. Parker will be an intern in my classroom for the second semester. 


Ask your child about Treasure Hunt on Wolverine Island.  Students were placed in teams and will compile points for such things as completing homework on time, completely filling out their Agendas each day, etc.  They will get to purchase land, equipment and then dig for gold coins and gems.

The Fourth Grade Class will be having an acknowledgment during TGIF on Friday, January 31.  Any student who has 2 or less missing/late assignments and no behavior write-ups will be invited to go sledding on Clovis Hill.   Your child can bring their own sled or the school will provide them with one.  Students who do not meet the requirements for the acknowledgement will stay inside with a teacher.


Permission slips went home for Coding Club today.  This is a club held once a month during lunch under the guidance of Mr. Kehring, the District Technology Coach.


There is No School on Monday because of Teacher In-service.


We took I-Ready Reading today and will take I-Ready Math on Wednesday.  Results will be sent home when all grade levels have completed the test.

In Math we have begun to use the Standard Algorithm for addition.  This is the addition method that most of us use.  Students are free to use any method that works best for them, unless the directions state otherwise, but the Standard Algorithm is the most efficient method to use.


In Writing we are beginning to learn how to write a Literary Essay.  For the last part of this unit each student must have read a fiction book to be able to complete the essay.  It can be a book that they read this year or in the past.  They must be familiar with it and have read the book completely.


After many weeks of hard work the class has earned the Mystery Acknowledgement.  We will have hot chocolate and cookies along with our Reading Celebration on Wednesday.

Recorder sheets for Music Class are due Friday.

Welcome Back!!  It was so nice to see all the students again. I hope they all had a chance to have a relaxing and enjoyable break.

December Reading Minutes are due.  I will accept them until next Wednesday, January 8.

Our class signed up to take part in the Winter Reading Challenge.  A note came home about this today.  Students have their Clever Badges ( a QR code) at school, so if they want to sign in using this, I recommended that they write the title and author of their completed book in their agenda and they can enter it at school.  They can also use their entire email address to log-in, if they would like to enter books while at home.  The six-digit PIN number is their birthday - month, day, year - using two digits for each.
