We have earned 200 Class Cougar Paws and have selected a double acknowledgement.  Tomorrow will be pajama day and free-time in the computer lab to do something of their choosing.  Students will still be going outside for lunch recess and having Phy Ed so please make sure they are dressed appropriately.

We are beginning to learn long division using the Place Value Sections Method.  I have attached a link to a video you can watch to explain the procedures for this method.

We learned another working memory activity that you may want to try at home.  Partner 1 spells a word backwards and Partner 2 must determine what the word is; then switch roles  We have been using 4 letter words as a class.  Some of the words have been easy, others challenging.

On Wednesday afternoon, we will have an Acknowledgement for all students who have followed the Cougar Code consistently and who have all their assignments turned in.  We will spend the last 30 - 45 minutes of the day watching a movie.  Students may bring a snack for themselves and a drink.  Please no energy drinks or drinks with an excessive amount of sugar.

The Veteran's Day Assembly was very touching today.  The school collected $322 for Hats On For Veterans and the PTO matched this amount.  The veterans are going to donated enough money to make the total $1000 so that two deserving veterans can go on the Old Glory Honor Flight.  Also, the veterans are donating a brick in honor of Clovis Grove Elementary School at the new Memorial at Smith Park in thanks for all our donations to Old Glory Honor Flight.

Thank you to everyone who donated to Old Glory Honor Flights.  It is so nice to see the smiles on the veterans' faces when they receive the check at the assembly.

Tomorrow is Parent/Teacher Conferences for the blue slip families.  I look forward to meeting with you.

In Math we have begun to teach the short cut method for 2 digit by 2 digit multiplication.  We are using graph paper so that all digits will line up correctly under the proper place value spot.  This is the traditional method that we learned.  Your child may use either the area model method or the short cut method throughout 4th grade.

Switch Witch has begun.  If your child has candy that they no longer want, they may bring it into school and switch it for a pencil.  This goes on until Friday.

Remember Wednesday is Hats on For Veterans.  For a $1 donation, your child may wear a hat for the day.  The money collected will be donated to Old Glory Honor Flight.  The PTO has generously offered to match our donation.  It takes $500 to send one veteran to their memorial in Washington D.C.
