September Reading Minutes are due on Monday. An October reading calendar was put in mailboxes today since October 1 is Saturday.

We began spelling today. For the Fruit Slices you will find word lists and an answer key for what the sorts should look like. I will post any other sorts that involve worksheets once I teach the students how to use them. For the Oompa Loompas you will find the word list including the entire packet for the week. All spelling for both groups needs to be finished when they walk into the room on Friday morning to be considered on time. I now also have links to Social Studies and Science. I will post worksheets, as I am allowed on these links. Please remember that due to copyright laws I will not be able to post everything that may be given out for homework.

Next week we will begin Spelling Groups. Groups names selected by the class are Food Slices and Oompah Loompas. Please know which group your child is in. Word lists will be posted on my web page by group name.

Today was our first day in the School Library. Fourth Grade students are allowed to have a total of three books checked out a time. When they return books they are able to check out enough to meet the three total. I also ask my class to check out at least one chapter book to read during DEAR time. The other two books can be of their choosing.

Writing - Publish First Day of School story in the computer lab
Math - Answer and write comparison questions about a pictograph and a bar graph.

What a great first day of school. I was greeted by smiling faces, polite manners and good listeners.

A reading minutes calendar and a bag of multiplication flash cards went home today. Please start incorporating 20 minutes of reading and nightly flashcards into your homework routine.

We spent most of the day reviewing the Cougar Code within the school and learning how it works in a Fourth Grade classroom.

We are holding our first Cougar Code assembly tomorrow with a drawing for prizes. Good Luck to my fourth grade class.
