Students have until Friday to enter books they have read into Beanstack.  They have a QR code at school might be easier to use, so perhaps they can write the title of the book and author in their agenda to enter at school.


The Sledding Acknowledgement is on Friday for all fourth grade students who have no more than 2 missing/late assignments and no behavior write-ups.  If students aren't able to bring a sled, there will be sleds at school for them to use.  They MUST have boots and snow pants to participate.

We would like to Welcome Mr. Parker to our class.  Mr. Parker will be an intern in my classroom for the second semester. 


Ask your child about Treasure Hunt on Wolverine Island.  Students were placed in teams and will compile points for such things as completing homework on time, completely filling out their Agendas each day, etc.  They will get to purchase land, equipment and then dig for gold coins and gems.

The Fourth Grade Class will be having an acknowledgment during TGIF on Friday, January 31.  Any student who has 2 or less missing/late assignments and no behavior write-ups will be invited to go sledding on Clovis Hill.   Your child can bring their own sled or the school will provide them with one.  Students who do not meet the requirements for the acknowledgement will stay inside with a teacher.


Permission slips went home for Coding Club today.  This is a club held once a month during lunch under the guidance of Mr. Kehring, the District Technology Coach.


There is No School on Monday because of Teacher In-service.


We took I-Ready Reading today and will take I-Ready Math on Wednesday.  Results will be sent home when all grade levels have completed the test.

A certificate is coming home today for participation in the National Geography Bee.  It was a great experience for everyone.

In Math we have begun to use the Standard Algorithm for addition.  This is the addition method that most of us use.  Students are free to use any method that works best for them, unless the directions state otherwise, but the Standard Algorithm is the most efficient method to use.


In Writing we are beginning to learn how to write a Literary Essay.  For the last part of this unit each student must have read a fiction book to be able to complete the essay.  It can be a book that they read this year or in the past.  They must be familiar with it and have read the book completely.


After many weeks of hard work the class has earned the Mystery Acknowledgement.  We will have hot chocolate and cookies along with our Reading Celebration on Wednesday.


December Reading Minutes are due Wednesday.


Recorder sheets for Music Class are due Friday.

Notes came home today about recorders for Music Class.  Please make sure that you check the back side to indicate the choice you would like for your child- there are 3 to pick from.

December Reading Minutes will be accepted until Wednesday.  Your child receives a free Pizza Hut Personal Pizza and $500 Cougar Cash - which comes in handy during the end of the year classroom auction - if the minutes are turned in on time.

It is exciting to see so many students entering books into their Beanstack account for the Winter Reading Challenge.

Welcome Back!!  It was so nice to see all the students again. I hope they all had a chance to have a relaxing and enjoyable break.

December Reading Minutes are due.  I will accept them until next Wednesday, January 8.

Our class signed up to take part in the Winter Reading Challenge.  A note came home about this today.  Students have their Clever Badges ( a QR code) at school, so if they want to sign in using this, I recommended that they write the title and author of their completed book in their agenda and they can enter it at school.  They can also use their entire email address to log-in, if they would like to enter books while at home.  The six-digit PIN number is their birthday - month, day, year - using two digits for each.
