Wednesday is our reward party. Students may bring a treat to share with the class - there are 29 students. We will not be wearing costumes but students may wear orange and black. To earn this reward all work must be complete and turned in. If there are missing and/or incomplete assignments the students will complete these in the hallway and then may join the party. A letter went home last week explaining all of this.

We have earned 10 classroom acknowledgements and our first recognization. We have voted and chosen to wear school appropriate hats all day long at school tomorrow.

Library has been changed to Friday due to students leaving for other classrooms. Please have your child return their library books tomorrow if they would like to check out new ones.

Due to the number of absent students I have extended the chaperone lottery until tomorrow. There are currently 10 parents who want to help us in Madison so there will be a waiting list. Remember parents are eligible to attend only one field trip during 4th grade.

We started spelling. Your child should study their words nightly. The Spellcasters and the Myth Busters will be doing sorts for their tests. Daily sorts will be due at the beginning of the morning on Friday. They will not be given time to work on them Friday, they are due when they walk in the door Friday morning. LCM and The Cougar Club will be doing a weekly packet that will be due each Friday. Today we filled our book boxes and began DEAR (Drop Everything and Read). Tomorrow we will begin Math. There will not be any Math homework until Tuesday. Please check my webpage after that for copies of the homework, if your child would ever forget to bring their worksheets home.

Wednesday, September 1

We had a wonderful start to Fourth grade. We spent much of the day learning the Cougar Code in the classroom and throughout the building.. Ask your child about the Cougar Paws they received. Hopefully someone in my room will be picked in tomorrow's raffle.

Your child brought home a reading log today. Please mark the number of minutes they read each evening, total the minutes at the end of the month, sign the sheet and return it October 1. here will be a log sent home each month. Your child is expected to read 400 minutes a month. If you misplace the log, another one can be found on my webpaeg or use the calendar in the agenda planner. A letter was sent home explaining how to get on to my webpage. You can access this from home or the Menasha Public Library has computers available for public use.

Please remember to sign your child's agenda for each day. We have discussed how it is your child's responsibility to have you sign it but a few reminders to get into the routine may be needed.

We spoke today about our end of the year auction. A letter will be coming home next week. Students are asked to bring in a couple of gently used items - books, puzzles, games, knick knacks, etc - that they no longer need or use. If they are not able, that is also fine. Our auction will be held Monday, June 7.

There is a letter coming home this afternoon from the school office. The office is inquiring about the status of your child attending Clovis Grove school next year. They would like the letter returned by Monday so that teachers can plan for next year. Thanks for your help with this.

Reminder: Brewers game on Thursday, May 27. You will need to make arrangements for your child to be picked up at about 5:00. Busses will not be running at that time.

Wednesday is the City Wide Track meet from 9:00 - 11:00 at Calder Stadium. Each student will participate in one individual event of their choice and can join a 2-man relay if they would like.
